Come to know the glaciers of the Chimborazo Volcano, camping, riding inside the wildlife reserve, a very demanding but very pleasant hike, along with lagoons and wild animals.

Why take this tour?

This adventure is a combination of horseback riding and trekking, ideal for people who want to know the glaciers and walk on the ice, here you must put on your mountain equipment, poles, crampons, sunglasses, helmet, etc.
On the Horseback Riding Route you will be able to admire crystal clear lagoons, surrounded by intense paramo and wild animals such as the Vicuña.
This tour is ideal for acclimatization and training before climbing to the summits of the volcanoes.

06:00 Pick up at your Hotel, Riobamba
06:30 Breakfast
09:00 Arrival and registration at the Chimborazo Fauna Reserve, Refugio Mechahusca sector (3600 masl).
09:15 Start of the horseback ride for 8km to the sector Laguna Colorada 4300 meters above sea level, a journey of approximately 3 hours through lagoons and wild animals such as the Vicuña.
11:30 Start of the 2km trek to the Hans Mayer glaciers at 5100 masl.
12:30 Arrival at Glaciers
13:00 Boch picnic lunch
14:00 Return trekking to base camp in the Colorada Lagoon sector.
15:00 Horseback ride back to Mechahusca refuge
17:00 Arrival at the Refuge
19:00 End of tour in Riobamba
